Kinewell Lake

Welcome to Kinewell Lake Nature Reserve

Kinewell Lake is a former gravel pit alongside the river Nene in Northamptonshire. It is the largest pocket park in the county and is owned by the village, managed by Kinewell Lake Trust. The area is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and Special Protected Area and is of international importance for the breeding feeding and migration of rare European birds.

Please be aware this lake is actively used by a small very responsible group of anglers and whilst every effort is made by these anglers to take home all equipment ie lines. hooks, etc. debris can wash in from the River Nene and other lakes in the network during periods of high water levels and flood.  When walking with children and dogs please be aware of this fact.  Whilst the anglers and volunteers who manage Kinewell make every effort to keep Kinewell litter free with regular litter picks and walk rounds to manage any risk to walkers, children and  dogs , we ask you to still be vigilant when enjoying Ringstead's Kinewell Lake.

pedestrian access into the carpark

In response to requests for easier pedestrian access via the carpark we have recently installed a walkway that can be accessed even when the carpark is closed, it will also allow visitors to enter without having to walk through the carpark.  The new entrance is located to the left of the vehicle gate.
